Last night was another perfect summer supper with friends. Perhaps worth a little plug for our favourite resto, Le Fournil in Bonnieux.  We've all been going here for the past twenty years and it goes from strength to strength.  Don't know if the guys will be there for ever so maybe worth a visit soon.

A glorious day in Marseille

A day full of sunshine and lovely sights.
The stunning Norman Foster 'Ombriere' capturing amazing reflections of people and life around the Vieux Port

The cascades of the fountains at the Musee des Beaux Art, with playful pink dolphins.

And of course the always gorgeous view of the Vieux Port itself with a myriad of boats dancing in the Autumn sunshine

Everything is big in wine country

In the wine village of Gigondas, perhaps the biggest hanging basket in Provence.

And the wine list at the Hotel les Florets in Gigondas is a seriously big read!

Winning Saturday in Toulon

Fans were out in force for the Heineken Cup rugby game in Toulon. Special lunch menus in the restaurants around the port and a packed stadium in the sunshine.

And a great result for Toulon!  Through to the quarter finals!

Brouillade de truffe

Brouillade de truffe, a scrummy egg and truffles kind of loose omolette come scrambled eggs, here cooked over the open fire at the Domaine de la Citadelle Christmas market. Lots of wine tasting to enjoy there too on a sunny Christmas afternoon in the Luberon.

More pictures of a provencal summer

Superb choice of apricots on this market stall.  Irresistible.

And beautiful fresh garlic, perfect for creating your own provencal repast.

Jubilee day on the beach!

Yes, even on at our favourite beach restaurant at Le Lavandou they were celebrating the Diamond Jubilee on Tuesday!

And of course they have the Toulon flag out ready for supporting the boys in their big match this coming Saturday.

The wild food of Provence

Fantastic peppery wild rocket adds a hint of bite to a simple salad, and gorgeus feathery fennel for a lovely aniseed flavour - its all just for the taking in the hedgerows of Provence.

Gastronomy by the sea

Gastronomare in Marseille - a feast for the eyes and the stomach! Cooking demonstrations from the top Marseille chefs, food and wine tastings and the best fun of all, street food along side the Vieux Port. From Palestine to Sicily, Italy to Algeria and lots more - stalls from all around the mediterranean with great food accompanied by a glass or two of the refreshing local Cagole beer. What better way to spend a sunny September afternoon.
