Another one of Provence's must do events, the international piano festival at La Roque D'Antheron has just come to a close.  This lovely setting is home to some superb concerts on the open air stage. What could be better than to be here listening to music on a summer's evening.

Winning Saturday in Toulon

Fans were out in force for the Heineken Cup rugby game in Toulon. Special lunch menus in the restaurants around the port and a packed stadium in the sunshine.

Last night was our annual visit to the International Piano Festival at La Roque d'Antheron.  The concert started at 9 and we'd decided to have supper in the village at a local restaurant in the main street.

To set the scene, Roque d'Antheron isn't too formal but it is a very serious musical event with the best players in the world performing.  Imagine our hilarity when an hour before the performance a local tractor comes trundling along the street towing a very large trailer with grand piano on it obviously destined for the concert venue.  Things are different in real Provence.

As you can see this is not a small affair.  We think as many as 5000 attend each night
