Time to head for the shade and relax. 37 degrees and its hot, hot, hot. The swimming pool beckons or the shade of the oleander. Summer in Provence is well and truly here.
A few fields away from us M. Cavana decided to plant some sunflowers for the first time in eight years. Despite everybody’s picture of Provence with sunflowers, the “tournasol” crop yield is far better in the south west of France and thus a field of sunflowers is quite rare in the Luberon these days. M. Cavana’s efforts have been certainly appreciated this year, I don’t know if it will be profitable for him but everybody has certainly taken away some great shots.
Coustellet market, stalls groaning with fresh fruit and vegetables and at last, that favourite summer treat, courgette flowers. Lightly fried tempura style in a beer batter and accompanied with nothing more than a fresh baguette - fantastic!
Real Provence is a small independent tour operator specialising in holidays in three beautiful and distinctively different areas of Provence which together make up the area we call 'real Provence' - the Parc Naturel du Luberon, the Alpilles area around St. Rémy and the Cotes du Rhone area of the Dentelles.
This blog is about our work, lives in the Luberon and the holidays our clients have with us. We also let holiday houses which are sometimes featured here as well.
